Royal Bengal Safari, is a wildlife
safari in West Bengal (eastern India) true home for Royal Bengal
Tiger. Royal Bengal Tiger lives in Sunderbans. Sunderbans, the
domains of Royal Bengal. formerly Sunderbunds, vast tract of forest
and saltwater swamp forming the lower part of the Ganges Delta,
extending about 160 miles (260 km) along the Bay of Bengal from the
Hooghly River Estuary to the Meghna River Estuary in Bangladesh. The
Sunderbans are a part of the world's largest delta formed by the
rivers Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna. The whole tract reaches
inland for 60-80 miles (100-130 km).
Sunderban covers an area of 4262 sq. kms in India. The Sunderban
Tiger Project was started in 1974 and has an area of 2585 sq. kms.
The core area is 1330 sq. kms and is a national forest and UNESCO
world heritage site. Sunderban has the largest population of tiger
in India. Sunderban Tiger is the most ferocious beast in the world.
Now makes news in paper for attacking in killing people every week.

Sajnekhali: Sajnekhali has a
bird sanctuary. There are watchtowers at Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali,
Netidhopani, Haldi, Burirdabri and a number of other places.
Gosaba: Sir David Hamilton’s settlement.
Tiger Reserve: Project Tiger was implemented in 1973 and later the
Sunderban Tiger Reserve was demarcated over 2,585-sq. km. The core
area of 1,330 sq. km has been declared a National park and has been
chosen as a world heritage site. The reserve has a tiger population
of 287(1984 census). The only mangrove species.
Bhagbatpur Crocodile Project: This is a crocodile breeding
farm. This place is accessible through Namkhana. Bhagabatput is a
hatchery of the largest estuarine crocodile in the world.
Netidhopani: The ruins of a 400-year-old temple and legends
lend mystery to the atmosphere.
Kanak: Nesting place of Olive Ridley Turtles.
A thrilling
cruise through the largest estuarine delta in the world and the
biggest colony of the `Royal Bengal Tigers' - the Sunderbans. `Here
the Tiger is always watching you'. |

Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is
a protect park situated at the foothills of Eastern Himalayas in
Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri District in West Bengal and on
the bank of river Torsa and have an area of 141 km² and altitude of
61 m. Jaldapara, the vast grassland with patches of riverine forests
was declared a sanctuary in 1941 for protection of the great variety
flora and fauna, particularly one-horned rhinos, an animal
threatened with extinction. River Torsa runs through the Sanctuary.
The forest is mainly savannah covered with tall elephant grasses. |

Jungle Safari Jaldapara:
Elephant ride is arranged for viewing of wild life preferably at
dawn.
Gorumara National Park: Located at Lataguri, Chalsa, Nagrakata
beside national highway 31 which connects Siliguri & Guwahati.
Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary: Located lower catchment area of
Mahananda river and spread over 159.86 sq.km. Entry point Sukna 7km
from Siliguri.
Totopara: Dooars aboriginals Totos living from 30 kms of Madarihat
on banks of Torsa near Bhutan border.
Buxa Duar: A Fort at an altitude of 867 meters on the
Sinchula Range guarding the most important of the eleven routes into
Bhutan, the Buxa Duar. Only 60 km from Madarihat, the Fort used as a
detention camp for freedom fighters during British rule.
Jayanti: 75 kms from Madarihat a beautiful picnic spot on the
bank of Jayanti river. It provides an excellent view of the hills of
Bhutan. Attractions are Pukhri Pahar, Mahakal Cove, Buxa Duar (12 km
trek through forest)
Bhutan Ghat: 85 kms from Madarihat, the road passes through
beautiful forest and tea gardens. |

Wild Life Attractions: The wild life, in
addition to one-horned rhinos, consists of Royal Bengal Tigers, wild
elephants, deers, sambhar, barking deer, spotted deer and hog deer,
wild pig, bisons and a number of birds, peafowls. |
